We are very excited to announce the arrival of a new venture in Newcastle, bringing you delicious middle eastern food from the refugee community.
Lazeez, which means “delicious” in Arabic, is a new café and catering business in Newcastle. It is staffed by resettled refugees who have arrived under the Governments Refugee Resettlement Programme. Lazeez aims to support refugees by offering valuable employment skills and experience, developing English language skills and supporting integration into the local community, whilst also providing a business that offers high quality middle eastern food.
Fenham Library will be the base for the Lazeez cafe, with mobile delivery and outside catering available, targeting events and conferences in the region. To date there have been three people employed through FoodWorks, Newcastle City Councils Supported Employment Service, with two more joining the Lazeez team in the next month.
You can find the café menu here and catering/buffet menu here – the café is a great place for meetings or socials if you are in the area, and the catering menu can be designed to meet different needs depending on the type of event, your budget etc. Please do think of Lazeez if you are planning any events – anyone who has been lucky enough to try any of their food will tell you just how good these guys are.
If you require any further information please contact them on the below details or pop into Fenham Library and speak to one of the crew!
